Although I generally do not make it for my dinner parties or hired events, Mexican is one of my go-to cuisines for casual, quick and flavorful meals. I recently had a friend over for a catch-up date and I made cumin rubbed seared sirloin steak tacos with mole sauce and pickled red onions- a perfect pre Cinco de Mayo theme!
Mole is a traditional Mexican sauce made with chilies and chocolate, among other ingredients. The chocolate adds a bittersweet taste that goes well with the heat of the chilies.
{Pickled onions are also a traditional Mexican condiment - they are easy to make and add a refreshing bite}
{I also added orange segments to the taco spread to play on the orange rind that I put into the sauce}
Olé!
