My Boyfriend's Back

When my boyfriend comes to town, we try to maximize each minute together and fill our time with lots of dinner date nights- because, well let’s be honest, we both have affairs with food. On Oscar’s night I made authentic Bolognese with Canule pasta to pair with wine from Robert Sinskey.

{Veal shank, beef stew and spare rib meat in the sauce – notice Oscar pool sheet in the background!}

This recipe actually also came from Robert Sinskey Winery’s kitchen. I signed up Chris to their wine club membership because we really enjoy how they focus on pairing the wine with food. It’s amazing how wine can taste so different after taking a bite of some nibbles. Each shipment contains recommended recipes to make with the wine and if you go to the winery in Napa, they provide you snacks with the tasting (bonus!). So this recipe, and the noodles, came with the last shipment of POV wine, which I still had on hand.

{Canule pasta is long like spaghetti, but is thicker and beautifully twisted}

P.S. I am actually serving Bolognese with Pappardelle this coming Sunday, but using entirely different meats, so I am glad I have Chris around to determine which sauce has better flavor to keep in my portfolio.
