Pre Father’s Day Dinner

I am out of town next weekend for Father’s Day so I surprised my dad with a dinner this past Sunday. I decided to go with the ultimate man food: steak. This Spice Crusted Strip Steak with Tamarind Sauce was the perfect mix of “manly” and gourmet. Tamarind has a tart flavor that is most commonly used in Middle Eastern & African countries, and June happens to be its prime month.

I wanted to keep the rest of the meal healthy so I sautéed some green beans & zucchini. For some more flavor, I put together a Sauce Verte, “green sauce” in French, with parsley, capers, basil, green onions & Dijon.
